The UK’s Defense Secretary, John Healey, stated that the UK, in connection with Australia, is prepared to defend Taiwan in the event of Chinese aggression, and has taken steps to increase its presence in the Indo-Pacific region, such as transiting the Taiwanese Strait, while planning more ‘freedom of navigation’ missions in the South China Sea, with the HMS Prince of Wales traveling from Singapore to Japan for the first time since 1997.
