Guy attending secretive government enclave thinks too many decisions being made behind closed doors

BEIDAHE – Too many key decisions at a top-secret government retreat are being made behind closed doors, an unnamed political aide told friends in Beijing yesterday. In the last few weeks, dozens of political figures have visited the seaside resort of Beidaihe to covertly discuss policy and leadership changes before the upcoming 19^th Party Congress. But, according to the anonymous aide, many of the most deceitful discussions are taking place behind closed doors, without other members being privy to the confidential deals. “If we’re going to meet on the QT and furtively carve up the pie for ourselves, certain other parties shouldn’t conduct other hush-hush meetings on the sly,” the aide complained. “If rival factions are quietly reaching under-the-table agreements without the rest of us, it undermines the fundamental clandestine nature of the system. Think about our children: What kind of surreptitious decision-making process do we really want to leave for them?”
