We Chinese: Unemployed Gen Z Self-Identify As ‘Rat People’

As millions of Gen Z’ers across China find themselves in the category of NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), many have adopted a new schedule of doom scrolling, napping throughout the day, refusing to leave the house, and ordering takeout, with some of them chronicling their ‘rat people’ low-energy lifestyle on social media.
