After a severe collision between the 7,500-ton CNS Guilin, a Type 052DL destroyer, and the 1,500-ton CCG 3104, a Type 056 corvette, which crushed the coast guard vessel’s forecastle and may have caused unconfirmed crew casualties, experts from think tanks monitoring events in the South China Sea issued a warning that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and the China Coast Guard could revise their communications protocols, leading to improved coordination around Scarborough Shoal.
What do you think?
“You mean the failed attempt from the Guilin to smash the BRP Suluan, but which instead caused the coast guard ship to crash was because of a lack of communication? I’m shocked.
“Well, not that shocked.”
“I saw it. I saw everything. The front fell off.”
“I’d take this seriously if I were you. With a combined Navy and Coast Guard, the PLA is 2/5ths of the way to having its own Chinese Voltron!”
